Client Support Services Intern:

The Middle Eastern Immigrant and Refugee Alliance (MIRA) is seeking a part-time Arabic-speaking Client Support Intern to provide scheduling and office support for a social service agency serving refugees and immigrants on the north side of Chicago.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors and clients and notify staff of clients arriving for appointments
  • Receive telephone calls and take messages or transfer to staff as appropriate
  • Assist case managers and other MIRA staff as needed
  • Maintain an orderly reception area

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Fluency in Arabic and English spoken and written communication
  • Available at least 10 hours per week
  • Experience with or willingness to learn about the Middle Eastern refugee and immigrant experience
  • Commitment to working with clients from a variety of religious, national and ethnic backgrounds
  • Commitment to working as part of a collaborative team 
  • Flexibility and a sense of humor

Jobs Program Intern:

The Middle Eastern Immigrant and Refugee Alliance (MIRA) is seeking an Arabic-speaking Jobs Program Intern to provide vocational counseling for a social service agency serving refugees and immigrants on the north side of Chicago.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on Job Search and assist with resume creation, job applications, and referrals to job readiness programs

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Proficiency in Arabic and English spoken and written communication
  • Available at least 8 hours per week
  • Experience with or willingness to learn about the Middle Eastern refugee and immigrant experience
  • Commitment to working with clients from a variety of religious, national and ethnic backgrounds
  • Flexibility and a sense of humor

Communications Intern:

The Middle Eastern Immigrant and Refugee Alliance (MIRA) is seeking an Arabic-speaking Communications Intern to provide communications and media assistance for a social service agency serving refugees and immigrants on the north side of Chicago.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Write monthly e-newsletter for supporters
  • Update website as needed (WordPress)
  • Assist with weekly emails and Facebook posts for client and supporter information

Qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Proficiency in Arabic and English spoken and written communication
  • Available at least 5 hours per week
  • Comfort with WordPress, FaceBook, MailChimp, Word and Google Suite
  • Experience with or willingness to learn about the Middle Eastern refugee and immigrant experience
  • Commitment to working with clients from a variety of religious, national and ethnic backgrounds
  • Flexibility and a sense of humor
